Barron Gorge from SkyrailWe have now completed out third trip on Skyrail filming for the Barron River documentary.

This time, we were able to capture the falls at the height of the dry season, showing how raging torrent from a few months ago has dwindled to a trickle.  Even so, the falls are still very pretty, with several drops and many deep emerald green pools.

Thanks, once again to Louise and Evan from Skyrail for doing an amazing job looking after us and explaining a bit more about the river and surrounding rainforest.

  1. Excellent work Mike…..I should get off my arse and go on Skyrail one day….everyone else in the family has done it and enjoyed the experience.
I really enjoyed the background music too.

  2. Sheesh! Even Rhonda’s point and shoot Sony can turn the audio effects off! I’ve had to turn off the recording LED on the camcorder because my 18 month old grandson seems to know what it means and freezes when he sees it. 🙂

Know you would massage the audio for a final cut, just rattling your cage. 🙂

    • I get that sort of thing all the time with animals. As soon as I point the camera at them, they turn away and freeze. 🙂

  3. Thanks Andy. Unfortunately, Nikon forgot to include an off switch for the shutter sound. Normally I’d edit out that sort of thing, but I had so little time to available to get this edit done I let a few things through..

  4. Very nice video Mike, but you’ll have to get Roz to turn off the ‘sound animations’ on her DSLR; I heard at least two ‘shutter releases’ in the background. 🙂

  5. My Bucket list has just grown by 1

    Nice work Mike 🙂

  6. you know I have yet to do this.. must try and remember the next time I get up to Cairns. 🙂

Love the look of that ‘green’ water hole at about 1.43 mins. How long did it take to film.. I should imagine that it took more than one trip that day. Lucky you and Roz. 🙂

    • Thanks Diane. This video was shot all on the one trip. Skyrail is certainly one of the must-do things in Cairns. Most people take Skyrail one way and the train the other. Doing that covers everything in this video and much more.
